Computing Coefficients of Inbreeding and Relationship

AE Freeman

Monograph, 1968

Abstract

The tabular method is a convenient way to calculate coefficients of inbreeding and relationship for all animals in complex pedigrees. Steps of the method are described in the monograph. Authorship is attributed to A.E. Freeman, professor of Dairy Science at Iowa State University from the 1960's through 1990's or later, but no author is actually recorded on the document. Truth be known, the actual author could have been Professor Jay L. Lush. Eldin A. Leighton obtained his copy of the paper from the reprint library open to graduate students during the 1970's. It was used by Dr. Freeman in his Advanced Animal Breeding Techniques class, which Dr. Leighton took in 1972-73.
