Abstract

iBay stands for iterative Bayes – referring to the MCMC schemes employed to obtain Bayesian estimates. Three main type of models are supported: linear mixed models allowing Bayesian estimation of variance components including quantitative genetic analyses; mixed inheritance models or “complex segregation analysis models” to find major genes based on phenotypic data only; and Bayesian multiQTL or “genomic” models (the latter only in the licensed version). Optionally, all models can also be applied to binary data. The versions 1.xx only support single trait analyses. For linear mixed models the models supported are relatively simple, but some nice features may be the support for threshold models, and the “iterative” setup which allows analysis of very large data sets, e.g. variance component and heritability estimation based on millions of data and pedigree records is well feasible.
