Repeated Measures Analysis

Abstract

Although repeated measures are widely used in blological research, repeated measures analyses ara seldom used. Reasons for their lack of use, stems from the lack of suitable computer software and from a generally lack of understanding of multivariate and repeated Measures approaches. Thus researchers and applied statisticans have tried to force repeated measures data into the traditional univariate analysis of variance model. While this made analysis of these data possible, it ignores one of the basic aspects of repeated measures designs, that of the correlation of observations made on the same individual. With both univariate and multivariate repeated measures software now available, let’s examine the alternatives for analysis of repeated measures data.
