Evolution Needs New Theory

Abstract

Argues that population genetics models of evolution, which assign fixed relative fitness values to alleles, fail to logically connect those values to the actual fitness of organisms in their environments. Proposes that selection should be understood as acting on whole organisms rather than individual genes or traits.
