Abstract

The incidence of comfort- and vision-threatening inherited canine ophthalmic conditions can be reduced with the use of screening examinations and certifications with associated breeding recommendations provided by collaboration between the ACVO and OFA in the form of CAER exams. The document "Ocular Disorders Presumed to be Inherited in Purebred Dogs" (known as “The Blue Book ”) is the primary reference for these recommendations and can be viewed online.
