Working with categorical data with R and the vcd and vcdExtra packages

Abstract

This tutorial describes the creation of frequency and contingency tables from categorical variables, along with tests of independence, measures of association, and methods for graphically displaying results. The framework is provided by the R package vcd, but other packages are used to help with various tasks. The vcdExtra package extends the graphical and statistical methods provided by vcd.
