Abstract
The genetic map of bovine chromosome 1 (BTA1) consists of one hundred and forty-two informative meioses per locus and 13 microsatellite loci with 267 informative meioses per locus. Backcrosses and F(sub 2) progeny formed by embryo transfer from Bos taurus and Bos indicus parents are used to locate the polled locus involved in the polled phenotype in a genetic map of BTA1. Scurred and horned phenotypes are difficult to differentiate, indicating that refining the model for the inheritance of horned and scurred phenotypes necessitates bracketing markers.
