Fx Algorithms

Monograph, pp. 1-3, 1995
Abstract
Numerous algorithms have been proposed for efficiently calculating coefficients of inbreeding (Fx), beginning with one first proposed by Henderson in 1975. Over the ensuing 20 years, several improvements were proposed to improve the efficiency of Henderson's original algorithm, thus reducing computing time and memory requirements. In this brief 3-page mimeo, Quaas summarizes the most efficient algorithms and provides pseudo-code for implementing the calculations required to obtain Fx for a single animal or for a group of animals.
